We do have set dates for Assessments and Open Days as some parents prefer this. There are also set days for Examinations, all of which is detailed below. Entrance Examinations For a full summary of all Entrance Examinations click here Junior DepartmentFoundation Unit: Years F and R, age 3-5Girls are welcome to join the Foundation class immediately after their third birthday and the Reception class at 4+. Most parents prefer to have a familiarisation morning first, where they stay with their child, followed by an assessment which usually lasts from 9.00-11.30am. We can assess at any time, but we also have set days to link with September start dates.
Junior Department: Years 1-5, age 6-10 Pupils wishing to enter Years 1-5 are tested in English and Mathematics and are assessed using NFER standardised assessments. For girls in Years 1-3 inclusive, the assessments last for a morning, whilst those for entry into Years 4 and 5 last for a whole day.Assessments available at times to suit prospective parentsSenior SchoolSenior School: Years 6-11, age 10-16Applications are welcome at any time for Years 6-10, but there is always a set date for examinations in January which links with the September start date for that year. The English examination will consist of a reading task and a piece of extended writing. The Mathematics examinations are designed to provide girls with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability in mathematics, according to their age of entry and level of experience.The examinations last for one hour each. The Reasoning Test lasts for 1 hour 15 minutes, and consists of three separate sections. Questions will be of a verbal, numerical and perceptual nature. Sixth Form: Years 12-13, age 17-18 Girls wishing to join the Sixth Form in Year 12 must have at least a Grade B in six academically rigorous and relevant subjects at GCSE, including English and Maths. A satisfactory report from the current school will also be required. Girls who are interested in joining the Sixth Form are welcome to spend the morning with us. Scholarships, Bursaries and Fees For a full summary of fees click here The Bishop Williams Scholarships for outstanding ability are awarded to girls who are between 11 and 12 years old on 1 September 2012 (i.e. entry to Year 7 applicants). Scholarships are awarded to any student - either existing Year 6 or external candidates -on the basis of performance in the entry to Year 7 examination papers in English and Mathematics sat on Entrance Examination day in January. Applicants should be between 11 and 18 years on 1 September 2012. They should have a standard equivalent to Grade 4 Associated Board on at least one instrument, and show an enthusiasm to pursue an active musical life during their time at the school and demonstrate potential. The Music Examination will be held on 14 January 2012. Applicants must be prepared to perform one piece on their main instrument and one piece on a second instrument if applicable. For the purpose of the examination, voice can be offered as one instrument. Aural and sight-resding tests, on the first instrument, will also be given. Bursaries are available from Year 3 onwards. Fees from 1 September 2011:
There is a 5% reduction on fees for a second daughter and a 10% reduction for the third and subsequent daughters. A full term's notice in writing is required before the removal of a pupil otherwise a term's fee in lieu will be charged. All payments must be made in full by the first day of term. Interest will be charged on late payments. |
