Success for Young Poets

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for girls in poetry competition....

The Poetic Muse continues to reign at LHS, and especially to the following girls, whose poems were selected from entries which came from schools across Leicestershire for the Hope Against Cancer poetry competition, run in conjunction with Leicester University’s Medical School..

Particular congratulations go to Ivy Lu who won 1st place in the Y12-13 section of the competition. Eloise North in Year 8, Fizza Mussa in Year 10 and Sabika Rizvi in Year 11 were all awarded second prizes in the Years 7-9 and Years 10-11 categories of competition. Summayah Jeffrey gained third prize in the Y10-11 section, whilst Yumna Sajan’s entry was awarded a special prize for its outstanding quality in the Y7-9 competition.

A number of other girls in school won commendations for their poems. In the Years 7-9 group: Highly Commended certificates went to: Kulsoom Ali, Indya Madlani, Fatimah Gani, Meera Patel and Aiesha Ibrahim, whilst Commended certificates went to: Louise Marriage, Milena Wakefield and Aleksandra Cupac.

In the Years 10-11 group, Highly Commended certificates were won by: Shivani Kumar, Vandita Seghal, Roshni Jutha, Maya Harran, Tiger Ginn and Riya Ghosh. Commended certificates went to: Rashmi Patwardhan, Avneet Attwal and Zoew Callow.

Their prizes and certificates will be presented in due course by a representative from Hope Against Cancer.
