Y3-5 Visit to Places of Worship
Girls gain much knowledge and understanding from wide-ranging trip...
On Tuesday 7 June Years 3, 4 and 5 went on a trip to visit some places of worship linked to our Religious Studies lessons.
Our first visit was to a Sikh Gudwara. We were given a tour of the building and spent time in the Prayer Hall and were given the opportunity to see a reading from the Sikh Holy Book the Guru Granth Sahib.
Next, we went to visit a Hindu temple called a Mandir. We were all amazed by the main hall which contained images of many Hindu Gods and a huge marble altar. We all had a chance to ring the bell too which was thoroughly enjoyable!
For lunch, we stopped in Cossington Park for a picnic before making our way to our final stop which was a Mosque.
We arrived in time to see lunchtime prayers and were allowed to observe this from the balcony. Afterwards, the Imam gave us a talk about the Mosque and the main beliefs of Islam. The girls were particularly interested about the special month of Ramadan and asked lots of thoughtful questions.
The trip was found extremely interesting by both pupils and staff and we all came away having learnt a great deal of new knowledge.
