Very early on Monday 27 June the Y10 geographers set off for Dorset on their residential field trip. First stop was the Swanworth Quarry at Worth Matravers, where they were given a tour of the quarry which included a demonstration of how to detonate the charges for blasting. In the evening, after settling into the youth hostel in Lulworth, they walked to Durdle Door and sketched the famous arch from the beach. On Tuesday the girls had a full day of data gathering for their Controlled Assessment, in which they are investigating the impact of tourism on Lulworth. The fieldwork concluded with some work on Swanage seafront, investigating the coastal defences.
