Vocal Coach Masterclass in Senior School

Top professional voice coach builds the girls' confidence...

Joshua Alamu, a talented vocal coach from 'Ultimate Artists' visited the Senior School in March to run a singing  workshop for around 40 girls. 'Ultimate Artists' is a company that develops talent in the world of singing. Joshua and his business partner, Ali Tennant, formed the company about three years ago after meeting on 'The Voice' where they both worked as auditioners for the show. He has also worked with TV voice coaches David and Carrie Grant, and sings professionally, working with many household names (to the girls!). He was very keen to point out that hard work, dedication and determination are excellent traits to have in the world of professional singing, and that reality shows are not realistic!

After working with all the girls and doing some warm up exercises he encouraged Lilly Livermore and Simone Nehra to improvise and discover their range. He also ran a ‘The Voice’ type audition with Elissa Wilson and Rose Caldwell. At the end he answered questions from the girls and gave them even more ideas. During lunch about 20 girls returned to ask more questions and Joshua was happy to listen to individual girls sing and give them advice.

The team stayed way beyond the time they needed to stay and all of them said how much they had enjoyed the session at LHS.

Mr Tang, Head of Music, who organised the session said, 'It was a thoroughly enjoyable Masterclass from Joshua and the team who were all genuinely caring and really embraced the ethos of inspiring confidence in the girls. Thank you'.
