U18 Badminton County Champions

U18 Badminton storm to victory in the County Championship Finals.

The Leicestershire Schools Badminton League Championships was held at Babington College on Thursday 19 March.

The league started back in September with 13 schools across the County playing home and away matches over the season. 4 teams progressed through to the County Finals with both the A team squad and B team squads making it through.

The B team lost both their matches in the finals but were delighted to have made it through and were

fantastic supporters of the A squad. The A squad beat Beauchamp in the semi-finals 5-3. They are long standing rivals in badminton and for several years LHS has been pipped to the post by them – so this victory was all the sweeter. The girls then faced Loughborough High in the finals. They were a consistent and strong team and all the matches were extremely competitive and played at an amazingly high standard. The girls played superbly to win 5-3.

This is the first time we have won County finals in this competition and it is the result of several years hard work, and a committed and dedicated team who have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours training together and now play at a very standard with a fantastic team spirit.

Well done to: Susannah Wang (Captain), Ayesha Bhatti, Roshni Kotecha, Morgan Williams and Nina Patel.

Many congratulations to the U18A, B and U14 squads, all of whom qualified for the County Championship Finals this year. The U18B were fourth and the U14's were 3rd.
