Even More Ducks – supporting a local need

LHS are now caring for four more duck eggs, they have been incubating for a while and cracks are starting to show. Hopefully we’ll have some successful hatching soon.

All of this came about from our previous hatching: a member of the public, who knows our school, was fascinated by our duck-cam as she keeps ducks herself.

Unfortunately, her mummy duck was taken away by a fox, leaving behind these four eggs. She contacted us, obviously upset, and asked if we could incubate her eggs, otherwise she would lose them all.

With thanks to Mrs Greenwood and Mrs Johnson who have been doing the weekend shifts, it looks like we might have some more ducklings.

Not only will our girls get to see more hatching and ducklings, this is a good deed for another person and their owner will be so relieved, happy and thankful that we have been able to help.

We have had three hatchings overnight!

All ducklings are very tired, but look like they’ll be ok.
