Rotary District Royal Wedding Poetry Competition

Last term, two of our Leicester High School students’ top poems written to celebrate the forthcoming wedding of Prince Harry and  Meghan Markle went through from the Rotary Leicester Club round to the prestigious District round for judging against other local Rotary club winners.

We have now received the fantastic news that Fatema B in 9B has won the Rotary District 1070 Senior Poem competition. As a result, her poem will be included on a card sent to Prince Harry and  Meghan by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland to mark their wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19. Many congratulations go to Fatema.

A poem for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

I have a story that I want to share,

About a loving, affectionate pair,

My story begins when they meet on a date,

From the very first glance, they knew it was fate,

A girl from the US, a boy from the UK,

Their love is still very strong to this day,

One is an actress, the other a prince,

It started in July, they've been inseparable since,

November, last year, they showed us their rings,

They showed us their love could beat anything,

Our story's not ended yet, they're still due to marry,

So I wish you the very best Meghan and Harry.
