Support Us

For over a century, Leicester High School for Girls has stood as a beacon of educational excellence and opportunity in our community. Founded in 1906, our School has been dedicated to providing a nurturing and empowering environment where young women can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

In 1974, the School's Parents' Association assumed responsibility and established the charitable trust that continues to oversee the school's operations today. This transition marked a pivotal moment in our history, solidifying our commitment to accessibility and philanthropy.

As a charitable institution, we rely on the generosity and support of our community to continue delivering exceptional education and opportunities to our students. Whether through donations, volunteering, or other forms of support, your contribution helps us maintain our tradition of excellence and enables us to further our mission of empowering young women to become confident, compassionate, and accomplished individuals.

Buildings

Many of our buildings are beautiful but costly to maintain, especially the original Portland House building.

Our School fee income finances the day-to-day running of the School, the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings and estate and small-scale improvement and refurbishment projects.

Further development of the School estate relies on funding from elsewhere in our community, including from our old girls, our current and past parents and friends of the School.

Music Centre

We are thrilled our new Music Centre opened in September 2019, thanks to a generous gift from Dr Sujata Davé Narayan and Ms Sumita Davé, two of our Old Girls who studied at the School during the late 1970s and early 1980s. We are incredibly grateful that they have chosen to reflect on their positive memories of the School through this gift.

The new Music Centre houses music practice rooms, ensemble/performance space and classroom space providing a significant increase in music tuition across the School.

You can find photos of the opening event in our gallery.

Our Bursaries

Our bursaries are designed to help alleviate the financial burden of tuition fees, enabling deserving students to fully engage in our academic, extracurricular, and enrichment programs.
