The Sir Thomas White Scholarship for Sixth Form

For the past six years, girls entering the Sixth Form from a state school, and resident in Leicestershire or Rutland, have been invited to apply for a Sir Thomas White Scholarship, which is 50% fees-only funded for two years.

The School has had seven Sir Thomas White Scholars in recent years. The scholarship is for an academic girl who would not have the means to pay for a place normally.

The application is means-tested and applicants must have a household income of less than £50,000 per year. A bursary form needs to be completed. A personal statement, grades and references from your current school will be requested and shortlisted girls will be invited to attend an initial interview with the Head of Sixth Form and the Subject Heads of her chosen A Levels.

If successful at this initial interview, girls will be invited to attend a final interview with the Headmaster before being put forward for an interview with the trustees of the Sir Thomas White Trust.

Deadline for 2024 applications is Thursday 18 January 2024.

The Sir Thomas White charity awards a maximum of three sixth form scholarships to independent schools across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland each year.  Therefore, please be aware that this is a competitive process for applicants and that not all schools/colleges taking part in the programme will be able to award scholarships.
