Entry Requirements
Six GCSEs at Grade 6 or above PLUS:
Grade 7 or above in GCSE Computer Science or OR Grade 7 or above in GCSE Maths
Course overview
Computer Science is a very creative subject and skills such as problem-solving and analytical thinking will all be refined and explored. You will develop the skills required to apply the academic principles you will learn to real-world systems. You will develop your understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science and the ability to analyse problems in computational terms.
As well as an emphasis on problem-solving using computers, there is also an emphasis on computer programming and algorithms, as well as on developing the mathematical skills required to express computational laws and processes.

- Data types, data structures and algorithms
- Legal, moral, cultural and ethical issues
- Elements of computational thinking

- Algorithms to solve problems and standard algorithms
After A-Level
A-Level Computer Science is suitable for anyone intending to pursue any career in which an understanding of technology is needed. It will provide you with a range of transferable skills which will facilitate personal growth and foster cross-curriculum links in areas such as maths, science and design and technology.
