A level Results 2016
Results stronger than ever in Y13 and Y12.
The A Level results achieved by pupils at Leicester High were, once again, impressive this year. With A* and A grades up on the previous year, and a 100% pass rate for the ninth consecutive year, there was much to celebrate. 44% of the grades were A*/A, and 92% were A*-C. These high grades have resulted in 75% of the cohort securing a place at their first choice university. In addition, many of these universities are in the prestigious Russell Group.
With more than 1 in 5 girls achieving all A*/A grades, some of the toughest courses at top universities have been secured by students. 6 girls will be studying medicine at Southampton, Imperial, UCL, Liverpool (2) and Nottingham. Congratulations to Seetal, Susannah, Vanisha, Ashni, Aditi and Anna. Twins Rebecca and Victoria Wayman are both going to the UK's best sports university, Loughborough, to study Sport and Exercise Sciences. Courses secured are wide ranging and include psychology, fashion, history, chemical engineering and law. University destinations range from Florida to Dundee!
Headmaster Mr Alan Whelpdale said: ‘The A level results are excellent; indeed the percentage of A*/A grades, at 44%, is an increase on last year. However, what pleases me the most is the fact that almost all of our students are going to the university of their choice. This is a huge achievement for our girls and their dedicated staff’.
In addition to a strong performance by Y13, Y12 showed great promise by securing the best AS results for five years, with 82% A-C grades. A grades have risen from 27% in 2014 to 43% this year.
