As always, it has been a very busy start to the Summer Term. I would like to thank Mrs Brooke for leading the DofE trip and Mrs Whalley, Mrs Haresign, Miss Penney and Mrs Rai for leading the food and culture trip to Italy during the Easter break. You can read more about the trip in this newsletter.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our new Prefect Team who have now started in their posts and to thank our outgoing Prefects for their hard work over the past three terms.

And finally, I would like to wish you a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend for the Coronation of King Charles. We look forward to welcoming the girls back to School on Tuesday 9 May.

Mr Alan Whelpdale,

Headmaster

UCAS introduction – Wednesday 4th March

Year 12 students were given an overview of the UCAS process along with the sessions and support available to them. As one of the most important elements of Sixth Form and schooling in general, students are given as much help, and clarity, as early as possible. This session will be followed by a UCAS information talk for parents in June with more information to follow. Students can access all the information from the UCAS application sessions via the enrichment section of the Sixth Form share point

James and the Giant Peach at The Little Theatre- Leicester Drama Society Youth Theatre

Many congratulations to Molly L and Nell L who starred in a production of James and the Giant Peach. The production ran for three performances and has been subject to glowing reviews.

Stick Insect Club

Leicester High School has kept a collection of stick insects for a number of years. Our Science Technicians work hard in looking after them throughout the year and, each year, a new group of students are trained on how to handle and look after these fascinating animals.

Here, Mrs Rai, is leading the first session showing the girls how to safely handle the insects.

Some of the girls are initially reluctant to handle the stick insects but by the end of the first session they all develop the confidence and skills to be able to prepare the insect’s home with fresh food and water.
