Every lunchtime there is a choice of two main meals and three puddings, in separate Junior and Senior sittings. There is a Snack Bar, Deli Bar, Salad Bar and also a vegetarian option. All food is sourced from suppliers within a 25 mile radius, and all of the meat comes from a local butcher, who prepares his own meat. Sometimes, Andy, the School Chef, uses herbs from the school garden to flavour the meals. The school encourages girls to eat a hot meal, and this is only offered via lunches provided by the school.
The vast majority of the food is prepared from scratch. So, for example, in chicken pie, the pastry is made in school, and so is the white sauce, which is made from a roux, not taken from a packet.
School lunches are compulsory in the Junior department, and in Senior School they cost £3.05 per day, which is usually less than the cost of a packed lunch. Additionally, school runs a tuck shop which sells sandwiches, drinks, snacks and homemade cakes.
