Inclusive Blind Football Experience

Leicester High School for Girls recently held a blind football session as part of the This Girl Can regional programme.

The event, organised by Inspire Together, aimed to promote empathy towards disability and encourage young women's participation in sports.

Girls at Leicester High School for Girls took part in a unique blind football experience. Using blindfolds and footballs with bells inside, they relied on senses other than sight to navigate the pitch. Paired with partners who provided instructions, they learned to find and kick the ball, encouraging teamwork and understanding.

Mrs Kate McCarthy, Head of PE of Leicester High School for Girls, stated, "The blind football session provided valuable insights into adaptive sports and promoted empathy among our students."

The event highlights the importance of initiatives like This Girl Can in promoting diversity and inclusion in sports.
