Offer from Cambridge for Claire
Claire gains offer from Trinity College, Cambridge to study Architecture
Congratulations to Claire Zhang in Y13 who has gained an offer to study Architecture from Trinity College Cambridge. After a tough interview at Cambridge it was also suggested to her that she apply for the prestigious Jardine Scholarship. Claire said, 'I had to write a personal statement, submit a reference from the School and complete an application form for the application. I was successful and was then invited to a preliminary interview at the HQ in London at the end of November.
I was then informed that I was invited to the final interview in Hong Kong during Christmas, and this year there were around 20 finalists who were shortlisted from over 300 applicants. I was provided free accommodation at one of the company's hotels and reimbursement for the airfare.
The interview took place on 4 January and the interviewers consisted of Professors and Presidents from both Oxford and Cambridge colleges, as well as a top educator in Hong Kong and two members of the Senior Management team in the company.
We were asked to write a 45 minute essay on a pressing social issue on populism, and then I was interviewed by the panel . The interview was a very stimulating experience, and even though I stumbled on a few questions, it was still a very valuable experience just to exchange ideas about social issues, politics and architecture with such senior members of society.
Unfortunately I was not awarded the Scholarship due to the extremely high standard of competition, but the whole experience was incredibly exciting and rewarding, and I will definitely remember it forever.'
We are extremely proud of Claire to have gained an offer of a place at Trinity, and congratulate her also for reaching the final stages of the Jardine Scholarship.
