Activities
We believe that offering new challenges
and opportunities at school is vital.
Lessons, homework, exam success and
university applications are at the core
of what we do, but they cannot be all
that we offer. A parent once said that
you would know a Leicester High girl
as soon as she walked into a room.
We think that it is our extracurricular
programme that gives the girls their
distinctive character, confidence
and spirit. Nearly every girl in Year 9
achieves Bronze DofE (The Duke of
Edinburgh’s Award). This involves her
carrying a pack the weight of a four year
old on her back for 28km. Character
building? Definitely. From Foundation
the girls learn about the world around
them from their ‘spinney’ at school
and trips to the Botanical Gardens. In
the Juniors they build on this and join
Walking Club and Gardening Club. By
the time they are in Year 4 they will
be enjoying their first residential visit,
which prepares them for the Adventure
Service Challenge in Year 7. By Year
12 DofE Gold can be achieved. In this
tough and increasingly global world,
exam success is simply not enough. It
is all the extras like DofE; trips to New
York and France; bridge and fencing,
which create confidence and character
in our girls, and ensure that they always
stand out from the crowd.
Did you know...?
The School organises over 100
trips a year; nearly three every
week.
