Pastoral care
The Headmaster believes that girls
learn best when they are happy.
Spiritual, moral and emotional support
is as important as academic work
because girls change a lot between
the ages of 3 and 18. We care how
they feel about themselves, others
and the world. Whilst they are with
us they become women, and building
confidence and character in them
takes careful planning. It all begins
with giving pastoral education a
proper place on the timetable, rather
than squeezing it into tutor time. It
also means offering a series of talks
for parents and girls on everything
from helping with maths homework
to building self-esteem. Providing
leadership opportunities for the older
girls to work with the younger ones
teaches patience and respect to all
involved. Nurse Abby is always there
if the girls have a problem, and it’s a
comfort for parents to have her mobile
number when needed. Teaching sixth
formers how to cook to a budget and
present confidently to groups prepares
them well for university. When girls
leave us we want them to have the
confidence to make the most of all the
opportunities that come their way.
Did you know...?
Nurse Abby, our full-time nurse,
organises free, weekly yoga
classes. Great for keeping calm
during exam time...
