* There are 3 terms in the school year; Autumn (September-December), Spring (January-Easter) and Summer (Easter-July).
Candidates not taking examinations at school must sit at a British Counsel Office abroad. Ideally all international applicants
should provide a UKiset report at the earliest stage of the registration process. UKiset is a cognitive test measuring underlying
ability and language proficiency. For more information please visit
.
Prospective pupils are invited to attend a Sixth Form Open Evening in November, and complete the Registration and Sixth Form
subject choices forms. The Registrar will book a personal Sixth Form Taster Day/Interview, to attend specific lessons and also
meet the Headmaster and Head of Sixth Form. A conditional offer letter will be issued in advance of GCSE results. In August,
prospective pupils confirm results and accept conditional offer in writing.
We have a broad catchment area with girls coming from across Leicester and the County of Leicestershire particularly
the southern region. We also have international pupils.
When a new girl joins us in September at the beginning of the academic year, she will have had the opportunity of an Induction
Day, usually in the June before. We organise this because we have so many new girls joining in September. It is an opportunity
for girls and their parents to get to know the staff, the School, the School mentors and each other, before School starts.
In all year groups we have specially trained official mentors for new girls. The main purpose of the mentors is to help new girls
settle quickly and easily. Mentors complete a four week training programme which is organised by Nurse Abby and the Head
of PHSCE and Years 7-9, Mrs Debbie Morgan. Mentors vary their support depending on the needs of each girl, but duties can
include sitting next to a girl at lunch, being a contact in the holidays and introducing girls to others. As Nurse Abby says: ‘You
name it, mentors do it; they’re a one stop shop support network.’

My mentor helped me to settle in so quickly
In the summer before I joined
Leicester High, I received a letter
from my mentor, which was a lovely
surprise. She told me that she was
in my form and that she would greet
me on the first day and look after
me until I felt settled. I was really
glad about this, as I was the only
girl going to Leicester High from my
school. She knew the School well
and stopped me from getting lost
and introduced me to all her friends.
When I joined I knew no one, but
before long I had 20 friends. Settling
in was easy with a mentor and now
I want to be one too.
