Three A level teachers have
PhDs and six have a Masters
qualification.
Academic
Studying at Leicester High is a rich
academic experience. We offer a choice
of 20 A levels ranging from psychology
to further maths, and the Extended
Project Qualification (EPQ), which is
highly valued by leading universities. In
Year 13, students have the opportunity
to stand as Committee Leaders for
their subjects. Working closely with the
Head of the Department, they organise
events and explore ideas to promote
the subject in School. There are many
extracurricular activities to enhance
learning, such as art trips to Venice
and biology fieldwork trips to Yorkshire.
Students also attend conferences -
in history, religious studies and the
sciences - hearing and meeting the
leading experts in their subjects. In
addition, staff invite specialists into
School to ensure that skills are taught
at the highest level, such as the art
department organising workshops with
professional artists. Girls access the
pupil intranet from home and have
Wi-Fi in School where there are plenty
of networked computers. In addition to
a completely separate Sixth Form, with
classrooms, common room and ample
study rooms, there is a fully-stocked
library with additional study space, as
well as e-books, Kindles, DVDs and the
latest academic journals.
