A third of girls have straight A*/A grades in GCSEs
To have 96% A*-C grades is excellent says Head...
With numbers of A*s up year on year to over 33% of all grades and a third of all girls gaining straight A*/A grades, there was much to celebrate at Leicester High on GCSE results day. Most A*s were achieved in chemistry, Spanish, maths and RE. The School reflects the pattern of girls’ schools which excel at sciences and languages and offer a breadth of core academic subjects.
Headmaster Alan Whelpdale said, ‘Our girls work very hard at challenging subjects, many at IGCSE level which are rigorous. Some girls take three sciences, two languages and two maths exams. The qualifications the girls gain enable them to apply for top universities which increasingly look for proof of ability at GCSE level. I am delighted with these results and congratulate the girls, their parents and the staff. Overall 96% of the entries were A*-C grade, which is a very high pass rate indeed.’
