We host Open Mornings and Discovery Mornings on designated dates throughout the year. However, we warmly invite you to arrange a personal visit at your convenience, either as an alternative to or in addition to these events.

You are welcome to visit us as many times as you need and your daughter is welcome to visit with you. Your daughter will also be invited to attend a Taster Day where she will spend time in lessons with her future classmates. A Taster Day can take place before you have applied or once you have been offered a place – whichever suits you and your decision-making process

To progress with an application, please register your daughter for an assessment or entrance examination based on her entry level:

• Junior School (EYFS to Year 5): To register your daughter for an assessment, please complete the online registration form. Anon-refundable £100 registration fee is required, along with a copy of your daughter’s passport and birth certificate, which can be uploaded to the system. Registration indicates your desire for her to be assessed for entry but does not guarantee a place, as offers are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Senior School (Year 6 to Year 10): For the Entrance Examination, scheduled for Thursday 9 January 2025, please complete the online registration form. This examination is necessary for consideration for the Headmaster’s Scholarships for Year 7 entry. Similar to Junior School, there is a non-refundable £100 registration fee and the same documentation is required. Registration means your daughter will sit the examination, but does not guarantee admission, and we encourage early registration as classes may fill up.

• Sixth Form: If you wish to register your daughter for Sixth Form, please fill in the online registration form. There is a non-refundable £100 registration fee, and you will need to upload a copy of her passport, birth certificate, and predicted grades. A report from her current school is also required. To be eligible for Year 12, students must achieve at least a Level 6 in six relevant GCSE subjects, including English and Maths, and at least a Level 7 in subjects they wish to study at A Level. Conditional offers will be made based on meeting these criteria.

In all cases, we recommend registering as soon as you feel Leicester High School for Girls is the right fit for you and your daughter.

• Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): For girls aged 3-5, assessments for the Foundation Class and Reception Class typically occur once the girls turn three. The assessment lasts around two hours and takes place in a relaxed classroom environment where girls engage in various activities. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with the Head of the Junior Department afterward to discuss the outcome.

• Junior Department (Years 1-5): For girls aged 6-10, assessments involve tests in English and Maths and usually take place over five hours, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. During this time, your daughter will participate in classroom activities and have a break in the playground, where she will be observed while playing with her peers. Results are communicated to parents as soon as possible, typically within one week.
   
• Senior School: The main Entrance Examination for Years 6-10 occurs in January and lasts approximately two hours. The examination is designed to be age-appropriate and includes an online assessment for Maths and English (verbal and non-verbal reasoning), along with a creative writing piece that is not part of the online exam. Results are typically available within two weeks of the examination date. Additionally, ad-hoc entrance exams may be held throughout the year, with results communicated within one week.
   
• Sixth Form: For Sixth Form entry, there is no additional assessment required as applications are based on GCSE results. However, new students will be invited to an Induction Day in June before starting in September. This event allows students and parents to meet staff, explore the School, and connect with fellow students before the academic year begins.

If your daughter is offered a place, you will receive a Parent Contract to sign and return, along with a £300 deposit to secure her place at the School.

When a new girl is due to join us in September, they will be invited to attend an Induction Day, usually in the June before. This is an opportunity for you to get to know the staff, the School and each other before School starts.

Girls joining Foundation (Preschool) and Reception classes will also receive a home visit from their class teacher before they start at the School. 

Entrance Examination: To register for the Entrance Examination, please complete our online application form and upload a copy of your daughter's passport and birth certificate. A non-refundable registration fee of £100 applies.

If your daughter cannot attend the UK for the Entrance Examination, she must take the UKiset Test at a British Council Office abroad and provide her UKiset report early in the registration process. A school report from her current school may also be required.

Registration does not guarantee a place at the School, nor does it commit you to enrollment; it simply indicates your wish for your daughter to sit the examination. While there is no registration deadline, classes fill up quickly, so we encourage you to register as soon as you believe the School is a good fit for you and your daughter.

Offer: If your daughter meets the entrance requirements for the year group she will be joining, we will issue an offer letter for a place at the School along with the contract.

If your daughter does not require a Child Student Visa (formerly the Tier 4 (Child) student visa) to study with us you will need to return the signed contract to us, along with the £300 deposit, to secure your daughter’s place at the School. 

Visas: The School is a Child Student Visa (formerly Tier 4 (Child)) Sponsor Institution. If your daughter needs a visa to study with us, we will provide a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) along with the offer letter and contract.

Once the visa is granted, please return the signed contract with the £300 deposit to secure her place at the School.

Induction Day: New students joining in September will be invited to an Induction Day, typically held in June, to meet staff, explore the School, and connect with peers.
