A Pocket Dream
A level girls and Yrs 7 and 8 enjoyed an hour long version of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Curve in September. They chatted to the actors, and some performed on stage in this dynamic production.
On Friday 26 September, Years 7 and 8 joined the A level Drama students at a matinee performance of an hour-long version of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Curve, Leicester. Everyone was captivated by the sheer force and energy of the six-man cast from Propeller theatre group, who, through clever costume changes and musical interludes, brought to life the magical world of Athens’ forest and its fairy folk, the highs and lows of the lovers’ courtship, and the crazy humour of the Mechanicals’ play “Pyramus and Thisbe”. Two Year 8 pupils, Lily and Vaidehi, were selected from the audience to be stand-ins for the Duke and Duchess, and both got perfect ringside seats on stage to watch Bottom and Thisbe perform their tragic tale of love. A question and answer session post-performance with the actors ensured a magical and highly entertaining afternoon was had by all.
