Ensuring Equality

Our Prefect Team have been working hard to raise money and awareness for their chosen charity: the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

As we approach the end of term, I would like to take the opportunity to update you on the progress of our review of the representation of race in all our activities.

Following the introduction of the new Jigsaw PSHCE curriculum in our Junior Department, we will be starting our review of the PSHCE curriculum in the Senior School in the Spring of 2021. Our Departmental Reviews will continue from January 2021, and we will be asking departments to specifically reflect on the work they are already doing in relation to ensuring equality is discussed and the contribution of BAME people to their subject area is effectively represented. From this, we will develop and share best practice across the School.

Our Prefect Team has been working hard to raise money and awareness for their chosen charity: the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. Their first major fundraising event for the year saw the girls challenged to ‘Do a Good Deed’ and this raised a fantastic £470.00. Forms are currently taking part in the ‘Penny Wars’, again to raise money for the Trust, and we will be updating the total raised for this early in the new year.

Mrs Timms has been working hard in the Senior Library, identifying any gaps in our representation of black authors and black issues and we will be ensuring we fill those gaps as soon as possible.

Members of our Leadership Team have taken part in online training focused on attracting and retaining a diverse workforce and we will be reviewing our HR materials and processes to include some of the advice gathered.

As a School, we continue to work towards ensuring diversity, inclusivity and equality in all areas of school life.
