Silver DofE Qualifier Expedition in The Yorkshire Dales
Silver girls go through with flying colours.
Four Silver groups set off during half-term for their qualifier having completed their practice in The Peak District at Easter. The weather couldn’t have been more contrasting – from snow, hail, mud and sleet in the Peaks, to beautiful blue sunny skies and warm evenings for their qualifier. It allowed the groups to be able to sit out in the evenings, cooking their meals and chatting in relative comfort. All the groups performed superbly well, rarely making any navigational errors and handling their campcraft and kit with confidence. They walked from Gargarve in the south of the Dales, north to Malham and across the moors to Hawkswick, before returning south and finishing in Grassington. Andy and Dave, the assessors from First 4 Adventure UK were delighted with the girls and how competent they were. Overall it was a great success and we hope it has inspired all of them to continue on to Gold; they all showed they had the right skills and dedication to achieve at the highest level.
Thank you as well to Mrs Davison and Dr Hills who accompanied the trip.
