US Election at Leicester High

Donald and Hillary pay flying visit to debate for the girls.

The History Department - namely Miss Pauls and Ms MacKenzie - donned wigs, fake tan, and various accessories, to play Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on the day of the US election. They debated excellent questions posed by Elissa, in Year 10, in front of a packed assembly in the Senior School. They failed to shake hands, and then insulted each other throughout the debate. Mrs Clinton called Mr Trump a 'child', and Mr Trump called Mrs Clinton a 'nasty woman', several times. At one stage security were called to haul a protester shouting 'sexist pig', at Mr Trump, who seemed to quite enjoy the incident. He urged 'all those pretty ladies out there' to vote for him, whereas Mrs Clinton focused, at length, on her record and experience, at which point Mr Trump appeared to drop off. It is unclear who will win at the mock election in School, but when a sample of girls were asked afterwards how they would vote, all said Mrs Clinton. One said, 'We are amazed that they managed to fit in a visit on the actual day of the US election, but were thrilled. We don't want walls built round Leicester as Mr Trump suggested, so we won't be voting for him.'
