Careers Trip at East Midlands for Y7
Y7 learn about careers at airports at East Midlands
On March 22 the whole of Year 7 went to East Midlands airport. I really enjoyed it when an airport police officer talked about his job. He showed us the things he carries with him where ever he goes, including handcuffs, pepper spray, body camera, walkie talkie and a baton. We also heard from an air traffic controller. We had a chance to explore the departures and arrivals areas. I discovered there were 35 check in desks and over 14 different flights leaving that day. We discussed the items that were forbidden to take on a plane such as guns, explosives and drinks over 100ml. We also had a chance to act out some different airport jobs in the ‘East Minilands’ role play area which was really fun.
