Rhema Delivers Our First Student TED-Style Talk

Hosted by our Curie Academic Society and chaired by our new Academic Prefect, Saisha, we were delighted to hold our very first student TED-style talk at lunchtime this week, delivered by Rhema (Year 11).
Taking on a complex and thought-provoking question, “Is time travel actually possible?”, Rhema led her audience through a fascinating exploration of the topic. From black holes and the Twin Paradox, to entropy, our perception of time, and even the nature of consciousness itself, she offered an engaging introduction to ideas often encountered at a much higher level of study.
Speaking with confidence and clarity, Rhema guided students and staff through these challenging concepts with impressive ease. She encouraged her audience to think beyond the classroom, posing big questions about physics, the universe, and what might be possible in the future.
The session created a real sense of curiosity in the room, with students and staff fully engaged and keen to reflect on the ideas shared. It was a strong example of independent thinking and a willingness to explore complex topics.
We hope this will be the first of many student-led talks, giving pupils the opportunity to share their interests, develop their confidence, and inspire others.
Thank you to Saisha for her thoughtful and well-delivered vote of thanks, and a special well done to Rhema for an excellent first TED-style talk.
