Pupils support local schools through dance outreach programme
Year 7–9 pupils from Leicester High School for Girls have taken part in a six-week dance outreach programme, delivering weekly sessions at a local primary school to support younger pupils’ confidence, coordination and enjoyment of movement.
Working in small groups, the girls planned and led age-appropriate dance activities, using dance as a creative way to inspire younger pupils and promote positive attitudes towards physical activity. The programme formed part of the school’s commitment to leadership, community engagement and learning beyond the classroom.
The initiative was supported by Head of Physical Education, Annabel Corcoran, who said:
“This has been a fantastic opportunity for our Year 7–9 girls to step into leadership roles and use their passion for dance in a meaningful way.”
The outreach programme also helped Leicester High pupils develop confidence, communication skills and experience of working with younger children.
