LHS Stands with Black Lives Matter

LHS with Black Lives Matter in the fight against racism and injustice

At LHS, we are proud of our diverse student community, with over half our students coming from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. We educate our students on Black History in both History and PSHCE lessons, through a range of topics and hold regular assemblies on discrimination.

However, we know we must continue to work hard to ensure we are making a positive difference in highlighting and challenging discrimination.

Relevant topics studied in History include:

Minority groups in Medieval England

Empire Troops in WW1

Slavery

The abolition of Slavery

The black pioneers of abolition, resistance and rebellion

The role of black Americans in the Vietnam War

US Civil Rights and protest movements

The persecution of minority groups under the Nazis

Jazz culture of the 1920s

The US Civil Rights Movement

Issues facing minority voting behaviour in the US
