European Day of Languages at LHS
To mark the European Day of Languages, the whole School joined in a day of challenges and celebration...
Last week at LHS the languages department organised events to celebrate the European Day of Languages held yearly on 26 September.
On Friday our Sixth Form Linguists joined Madame Soto to give an assembly to the whole school. Every one of the girls outlined the benefits of learning a foreign language and talked about their experience and enjoyment of exploring other cultures through learning languages.
All forms tried a European Quiz by deciphering different languages and learning facts about Europe.
In language lessons, girls were given the opportunity to use their language skills in a practical way, understanding better how people learn as well as increasing their own skills in languages.
Across the School teachers have joined in the event by taking the register in different languages and practised some other few words in different languages in their lessons.
At lunchtime both girls and staff enjoyed tasting the European food prepared by our lovely catering team to mark the day.
