House Writing Competition

Girls impressed the English Department with some beautiful poetry and prose in this annual competition

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Summer Term’s House Writing competition run by the English Department. This is the second year this competition has taken place.

We were very impressed by everyone's creativity and imagination, as well as the huge range of different subjects on which girls chose to write. But, as ever, there have to be a few lucky winners, and the following were selected by an independent judge:

In the Junior Poetry Competition:

3rd place, winning 15 House points is: Kathryn Jackson 7T

2nd place winning 30 House points is: Sophia Eaves 7S

1st place winning 50 House points is: Louise Marriage 7S

In the Junior Prose Competition:

3rd place, winning 15 House points is: Zaina Bhayat 7T

2nd place winning 30 House points is: Connie Davies 7S

1st place winning 50 House points is: Zainab Musa 7S

In the Senior Poetry Competition:

Joint 3rd place, winning 15 House points is: Kesia Wragg 9H & Candela McBean 8H

2nd place winning 30 House points is: Umaymah Jagot 9R

1st place winning 50 House points is: Sienna Kaur 9H

In the Senior Prose Competition:

3rd place, winning 15 House points is: Tiger Ginn 10P

2nd place winning 30 House points is: Oishee Ghosh 8H

1st place winning 50 House points is: Aiesha Ibrahim 9H

The top two entries form each Poetry and Prose sections then went through to vie for the Overall Young Writer’s trophy,

This year, the overall Junior Young Writer for 2016 was Louise Marriage 7S.

And the overall Senior Young Writer for 2016 was Aiesha Ibrahim 9H.
