Pupils at Leicester High School for Girls are celebrating an impressive set of results in this year’s national Biology Challenge, organised by the Royal Society of Biology.
An outstanding number of participants from the School received awards, including 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze, 4 Highly Commended and 4 Commended.
The Biology Challenge is open to pupils aged 13 to 15 and aims to encourage students to take an interest in biology beyond the school curriculum. This year, over 42,000 students from across the UK took part, making the competition more competitive than ever.
Mrs Helen Rai, Head of Biology at Leicester High, said:
"We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ performance. The Biology Challenge tests not only curriculum knowledge but also the ability to apply biological thinking in unfamiliar contexts. These results reflect the pupils’ enthusiasm for science and the strength of teaching across our department."
STEM subjects are incredibly popular at Leicester High, with many pupils choosing to pursue science-related courses and careers thanks to the School’s strong teaching and enrichment opportunities in these areas.
