Leicester High School for Girls proudly hosted the UKMT Primary Team Maths Challenge 2025, welcoming pupils from Market Harborough C of E Academy, Fleckney Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, St John Fisher CVA, and Avenue Primary School for a day of exciting mathematical challenges.
The event, organised by the Maths Department at Leicester High, brought together some of the brightest young mathematicians from across the region to work collaboratively, think creatively, and have fun with numbers.
The day began with a lively Warm-Up Round, followed by a series of engaging team challenges, including the Crossnumber, Logic, and Make a Number rounds. After lunch, the competition heated up with the Relay and Shuttle rounds, where speed, teamwork, and accuracy were key.
Head of Maths, Mr Newell, said:
“It was fantastic to see pupils from so many local schools come together and share their love of maths. The local pupils were a credit to their schools, and everyone left with smiles - and a deeper appreciation for the fun side of maths.”
A special well done to Team Fleckney, who were awarded Gold for their fantastic performance!
Mr O’Connell from Fleckney Primary School added:
“It was a fantastic day and our girls loved all of the challenges. Thank you to all of your staff and students for a brilliantly organised day - we’re already looking forward to next year.”
Results and prizes were announced at the end of the afternoon, rounding off a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring day for all involved.
