Junior School Adventures: Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our Junior pupils have been on some exciting adventures this term, taking their learning beyond the classroom and into the great outdoors!
Our EYFS girls enjoyed a wonderful day at the Arboretum, where they took part in a scavenger hunt to find colourful leaves, pinecones, and other signs of autumn. The day ended with giggles and smiles as they played parachute games together in the fresh air — a perfect end to a day full of discovery and fun!
Meanwhile, Year 3 took a fascinating trip to Compton Verney as part of their Through the Ages topic. The girls stepped back in time to the Stone Age, building shelters, learning how to wattle and daub, and even trying their hand at starting fires — just like early humans! It was a brilliant hands-on way to bring history to life.
Our Year 4 pupils had an amazing experience at Perlethorpe, linking to their Cornerstones topic on the Vikings. The girls met a real Viking, explored a traditional Viking house, and immersed themselves in the sights and sounds of the past. It was an exciting opportunity to learn what life was really like in Viking times!
Year 5 had a brilliant visit to Birmingham Back to Backs as part of their Cornerstones topic, ‘Revolution’. Pupils enjoyed a fascinating Victorian Experience Day, stepping into the shoes of children from the past. We’re pleased to report they were on their very best behaviour - though perhaps the threat of Victorian-style punishments helped keep things in check!
Each of these trips has provided our pupils with unforgettable memories and meaningful learning experiences - the perfect blend of curiosity, creativity, and adventure that makes life in the Junior School so special.
