DofE Students Rise to the Challenge in Wales and the Charnwood Forest

Our students recently demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination as they completed Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions in Wales and Charnwood Forest.

Our Gold Award participants travelled to Wales, where they undertook a challenging multi-day walking expedition through stunning countryside. Carrying everything they needed for the journey, the students navigated their routes independently, worked together to overcome challenges and camped overnight along the way.

They were rewarded with glorious sunshine throughout much of the expedition, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful Welsh scenery at its very best. At the end of each day, after many miles of walking, the students even found time to support one another with their revision, making the most of the opportunity to study together before relaxing and preparing for the next day's adventure.

Meanwhile, our Silver and Bronze Award students headed to the Charnwood Forest area for their practice expeditions. Developing their navigation, teamwork and problem-solving skills, the students worked in groups to plan routes, travel safely and support one another along the way. The expedition provided valuable preparation for their future qualifying journeys while helping to build confidence, independence and resilience.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award encourages young people to challenge themselves, develop new skills and work effectively as part of a team. All of the students involved embraced these opportunities and should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, and thank you to the staff and expedition leaders who supported the students throughout the weekend.
