Leicester High Student Shortlisted for Prestigious Global Essay Prize

Leicester High School for Girls is delighted to congratulate Year 11 student Zahra on being shortlisted for the Science & Technology category of the prestigious John Locke Institute 2026 Global Essay Prize.

The competition attracted an extraordinary 100,227 entrants from 183 countries, making Zahra's achievement an exceptional recognition of her academic ability and commitment to independent thinking.

Working on her essay alongside preparations for her GCSE examinations, Zahra demonstrated impressive intellectual curiosity and determination. After successfully progressing through the initial judging stage, she was invited to take part in a viva-style interview before being selected as one of the shortlisted finalists.

As a result of her success, Zahra has been invited to attend the John Locke Institute's awards programme in October. The event includes three days of lectures and talks, culminating in the prestigious Global Essay Prize Gala Awards Dinner at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

Everyone at Leicester High School for Girls is immensely proud of Zahra's achievement and wishes her every success at the awards ceremony in October.
