Senior School (Years 6-11)
A Place Where Girls Grow in Confidence, Ambition and Achievement
At Leicester High School for Girls, our Senior School provides an inspiring and supportive environment where every girl is known, valued and encouraged to achieve her full potential.
From Year 6 to Year 11, girls benefit from excellent teaching, small class sizes and outstanding pastoral care. They are challenged academically, supported personally and encouraged to develop the confidence, independence and resilience needed for success both in school and beyond.
Why Girls Thrive in Senior School
The teenage years are a time of enormous growth and change. At Leicester High School for Girls, students learn in an environment designed specifically for girls, where participation, ambition and achievement are encouraged every day.
Girls are empowered to ask questions, contribute ideas, take on leadership roles and pursue their interests without feeling limited by stereotypes or expectations. They see other girls leading, competing, performing, creating and succeeding across every aspect of school life.
Many parents tell us that the confidence their daughters develop during their time with us is just as valuable as the academic success they achieve.

Small Classes, Individual Attention
One of the greatest advantages of studying at Leicester High School for Girls is our small class sizes.
As girls progress through GCSE courses, class sizes often become even smaller, allowing for personalised teaching, meaningful discussion and individual support.
Our teachers know every student well and tailor their approach to help each girl flourish academically and personally.
Girls are encouraged to think independently, ask questions and challenge themselves in a supportive environment where their contributions are valued.
Every Girl is Known
Our smaller size allows us to build genuine relationships with students and families.
Teachers know their students as individuals – their strengths, interests, ambitions and the areas where they may need support or challenge.
This means girls receive personalised guidance throughout their Senior School journey and are supported to achieve their individual potential.
Parents often tell us that they value being part of a school community where their daughter is recognised as an individual rather than simply one of many.

The difference in our daughter has been remarkable. She comes home enthusiastic about her learning, has made wonderful friendships and has grown into a confident young woman.

A Curriculum Designed to Inspire
Our curriculum is designed to challenge, engage and prepare girls for future success.
Students study a broad range of subjects delivered by specialist teachers who are passionate about their disciplines. Lessons encourage curiosity, critical thinking, creativity and independence, helping girls develop the skills they need both for examinations and for life beyond school.
Preparing for GCSE Success
Success at GCSE is built over time.
From Year 6 onwards, girls are encouraged to develop strong study habits, intellectual curiosity and increasing independence. By the time they begin GCSE courses, they have the confidence and skills needed to thrive.
Small classes, specialist teaching and personalised support ensure that every student is challenged appropriately and supported throughout her GCSE journey.
Alongside academic guidance, girls receive support with organisation, revision techniques, wellbeing and confidence, helping them achieve their personal best.

Starting in Year 6
Year 6 is a unique and exciting year at Leicester High School for Girls.
Rather than waiting until Year 7, girls begin their transition into Senior School gradually throughout Year 6. As the year progresses, they spend increasing amounts of time in the Senior School, becoming familiar with teachers, classrooms, routines and expectations.
By the Summer Term, Year 6 pupils have fully moved their form base into the Senior School.
This means girls arrive in Year 7 feeling confident, settled and ready to thrive.
Supporting Busy Families
We understand that many families require flexibility beyond the standard school day.
Before School - Girls in Years 6–13 can arrive on site from 7.30am. Students may spend time in their form rooms, prepare for lessons or take part in extracurricular activities before school begins.
After School - After lessons, girls can participate in clubs, activities and sports or attend our Late Supervision provision.
Late Supervision takes place in the Library and ICT facilities, providing a quiet, supervised environment where students can complete homework, revise or undertake independent study until 6.00pm. There is no additional charge for Late Supervision until 6.00pm.
