An Inspiring Afternoon with the CATIL Quintet

Year 8, 9 and 10 students recently attended a special Enrichment Music trip to hear the CATIL Quintet perform live as part of the Leicester International Music Festival.

Hearing the quintet up close was a real privilege. Students were struck not only by the technical skill of the musicians, but by the energy and connection between them on stage. Watching how they communicated through the music brought ensemble performance to life in a way that no recording can.

After the concert, students took part in a lively Q&A session. They asked insightful questions about rehearsal routines, overcoming performance nerves and how the group refines its sound together. The musicians spoke openly about the importance of trust, listening and a shared musical vision.

The experience gave students a deeper understanding of what it means to perform as part of an ensemble and reinforced the power of collaboration in music. It was an inspiring and memorable visit, and a valuable extension of their learning beyond the classroom.
