Success at Junior Touch Rugby Nationals

Leicester High School for Girls is celebrating the sporting success of Year 11 pupil Isobel, who played a key role in helping the Nottingham Touch Rugby Club team secure first place in the U17 Mixed Competition at the Junior Touch Rugby Nationals.

Isobel’s team was the only all-girls side competing in the mixed division, a notable achievement in itself. After finishing second in the group stages, they went on to claim victory in a dramatic extra-time final, showcasing determination, teamwork and resilience.

The event was a true family affair. Isobel’s younger brother, Edward, also enjoyed success, playing in the Boys’ U12 team that won their competition undefeated.

Adding to the Leicester High connection, our own Deputy Head, Mr Partridge, was part of the official refereeing team. Reflecting on the day, he commented:

“It was brilliant to be involved in such a fantastic event. Touch Rugby is a fast-growing sport that anyone can play. I think it has huge potential as an inclusive and exciting game – I’m already thinking about how we can make this a regular part of life at Leicester High.”

We are extremely proud of Isobel’s performance and the example she sets for girls in sport. Congratulations to Isobel and the entire Nottingham team on a phenomenal achievement!
