National Success in Rotary Young Writer Competition

The English Department at Leicester High School for Girls is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students in the Rotary Young Writer Competition 2025-26.

This year's competition challenged young writers to explore the theme 'Happiness in Nature', inspiring a range of imaginative poems and stories from students across the School. We were thrilled to receive several certificates and prizes, reflecting the creativity, originality and literary talent of our entrants.

Special congratulations go to Simran (Year 8), who won the Intermediate Category at both club and district level, and Zahra (Year 11), who achieved first place in the Senior Category at club and district level.

We are especially proud of Alisha (Year 6), whose exceptional entry won the Junior Category at National Level. To be recognised as the best young writer in the country within her age group is a remarkable achievement and one that reflects both her talent and dedication to her craft.

The Rotary Young Writer Competition encourages young people to develop their imagination and express their ideas through creative writing. This year's success is testament to the enthusiasm our students have for English and literature, as well as their ability to engage thoughtfully and creatively with the world around them.

Congratulations to all of our entrants for their hard work and achievements. We look forward to seeing what they write next.
