Leicester High School for Girls celebrate National Poetry Day

To mark National Poetry Day, Leicester High School for Girls held a special event featuring their own poet laureates.

The School's library was temporarily transformed into a "Poetic Clinic", where "Emergency Poetry Doctors" provided attendees with poetic solutions for various emotional states.

Championing the idea that literature can heal, comfort, and inspire, participants were given custom-tailored poems based on their feelings. Additionally, they enjoyed delicious cakes during the event.

The Headmaster of Leicester High School for Girls, Mr. Whelpdale, expressed his delight after participating: "After an outstanding assembly by the English Department, they set up a lunchtime clinic with the Emergency Poetry Doctors. I was given a diagnosis that introduced me to a poem by William Blake. It was brilliant!"

Leicester High School for Girls would like to thank all the participants and the English Department for organising such a memorable event.

The School consistently promotes the significance of literature and the arts, and such events highlight its commitment to a well-rounded education.
