Wellbeing Award for Pupils

Leicester High School for Girls is proud to announce that 25 pupils from Years 5 and 6 have successfully completed the 'Mental Health Champion' Award.
This significant achievement has led to the School being awarded the Bronze School Award in recognition of its commitment to supporting pupil wellbeing and promoting mental health awareness across the school community.
This is the first time Leicester High has taken part in the Mental Health Champion programme, and the impact has already been powerful. As part of the initiative, the girls have explored how to look after their own mental health, support others, and understand the importance of emotional wellbeing. They have shown empathy, leadership, and initiative in championing mental health both in and outside the classroom.
Certificates and badges will be presented to the Year 5 pupils during the School’s final assembly on Thursday. The School has also been awarded a whole-school certificate in recognition of the impact this initiative will continue to have across all year groups.
Assistant Junior Head, Mrs Pippa Gascoigne said:
"We are incredibly proud of our Mental Health Champions. This is a wonderful achievement for our Year 5 and 6 girls, and a testament to their maturity and commitment to supporting the wellbeing of others. We are thrilled to receive the Bronze Award – the first step in what we hope will be a growing programme of mental health leadership at Leicester High."
This initiative forms part of the School’s wider focus on health and wellbeing, ensuring that all pupils feel supported, valued, and empowered to care for themselves and each other.
