Year 4 Explore Ancient Egypt at New Walk Museum

Year 4 recently enjoyed a visit to the New Walk Museum as part of their learning about ancient civilisations.

During the visit, the girls explored the museum’s Egyptian collections and took part in a hands-on session that brought their classroom learning to life. They discovered how ancient Egyptian culture developed in response to its geographical conditions, learning how the River Nile shaped daily life, food, and farming.

The session also explored Egyptian customs and beliefs, including religion, burial practices, and everyday routines. The girls were particularly fascinated to learn why ancient Egyptians dressed the way they did, linking clothing choices to climate, materials available, and social status.

The visit was an excellent opportunity for Year 4 to deepen their understanding through real artefacts and interactive discussion. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it proved to be a memorable way to enrich their study of ancient Egypt.

A video of the trip is on Instagram.
