Year 7 Complete This Girl Can Programme

Year 7 students recently completed This Girl Can, a mixed theory and practical programme delivered over five PE sessions during the summer term by an external provider.
The programme was designed to help students build self-confidence, develop resilience and foster a positive attitude towards physical activity. Through a combination of discussion, reflection and practical activities, the girls explored important topics including self-esteem, confidence, teamwork and what it means to be an active member of the school community.
As part of the programme, students were encouraged to reflect on their own lifestyles, recognising positive habits and considering areas where they might like to make changes or improvements. They also explored key life skills such as emotional regulation, grit and resilience, learning strategies to help them overcome challenges and work towards personal goals.
A central theme of the programme was the idea that progress happens one step at a time. The girls discussed how starting with small, achievable actions can help build confidence and create lasting positive change.
Many of the sessions involved sports and physical activities chosen and planned by the students themselves, giving them the opportunity to take ownership of their learning while developing teamwork and leadership skills.
The programme provided a valuable opportunity for Year 7 students to strengthen their confidence, reflect on their wellbeing and discover new ways to enjoy being active.
Well done to all of Year 7 for their enthusiastic participation throughout the programme.
