Year 7 Step Back in Time in Lincoln

Year 7 enjoyed a fascinating trip to Lincoln, where they explored the city's rich medieval history and brought their classroom learning to life.
The day began with a walk along the historic pilgrim route through the heart of Lincoln. The pupils made their way up the famous Steep Hill, taking in the sights and atmosphere of this historic city before reaching the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral at the top.
The girls also visited Lincoln Castle, where they had the opportunity to see one of the original copies of the Magna Carta. They learned about the significance of this landmark document and the role played by the barons who challenged King John and helped secure important rights and freedoms.
To celebrate their learning, the pupils created replica shields featuring the heraldry of the barons associated with the Magna Carta. This hands-on activity helped bring history to life and gave the girls a greater understanding of the people behind this pivotal moment in English history.
A highlight of the day was climbing the East Tower, where the girls were rewarded with spectacular views across the rooftops of Lincoln. The visit concluded with an engaging tour of Lincoln Cathedral led by Mr Ingram, who shared his knowledge and enthusiasm for one of England's most impressive historic buildings.
The trip was an enjoyable and memorable experience, giving Year 7 the opportunity to deepen their understanding of medieval England while exploring some of the country's most significant historical landmarks.
