A Term of Celebration in the Junior School

Our pupils in the Junior School have been busy taking part in a range of celebrations reflecting different faiths and cultures from around the world.
The girls embraced each occasion with enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity, gaining a deeper understanding of traditions beyond their own experiences.
To mark Chinese New Year, pupils came to school dressed in traditional Chinese clothing or red, adding colour and excitement to the day. They learned about the significance of the festival, including the zodiac animals and the importance of family and good fortune in the celebrations.
During Eid, the girls once again dressed in cultural clothing or bright, sparkly outfits and explored the meaning behind this important festival. Activities included making prayer beads and taking part in games, helping pupils to understand the values of reflection, generosity and community that are central to Eid.
The celebrations continued with Pancake Day, where pupils enjoyed making (and tasting!) their own pancakes. This provided a fun opportunity to learn about the tradition of Shrove Tuesday and its place in the Christian calendar.
These experiences have not only been enjoyable but have also supported the girls in developing respect, awareness and appreciation for different faiths and customs. It has been wonderful to see the Junior School community come together to celebrate such a rich variety of traditions.
