Leicester High Named National Finalist for SEND Provision

The national recognition comes as the School continues to invest in and expand its specialist SEND provision, providing individual support and expertise for girls across the School.

Led by Mrs S Rastall, SEND Coordinator, the expanded team brings together specialist teaching, dyslexia assessment, HLTA and teaching assistant support. The team also works closely with the School’s Health and Wellbeing Officer, helping to ensure that girls’ learning, wellbeing and individual needs are considered together.

Mrs Rastall said: “We want girls to know that we’re here for them and that asking for support is a positive thing. It’s about understanding each girl, building her confidence and giving her the tools she needs to become more independent and achieve her best.”

The SEND team works closely with girls, teachers and families to identify individual needs and put the right support in place at the right time.

Headteacher John Partridge said: “At Leicester High, knowing each girl as an individual is central to the way we work. Our SEND team helps us understand what each student needs to thrive, build confidence and become more independent. Their work is an important part of ensuring every girl feels known, valued and able to achieve her best.”

Leicester High’s small-school environment enables staff to know girls particularly well – recognising their strengths, understanding where they may need additional support and providing individual help that can make a real difference.
