Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful day at Coombe Abbey Park, making the most of the sunny weather as they took part in a hands-on river study.
The girls explored the river to learn more about its speed, depth and the fascinating wildlife that lives in and around the water. Putting their classroom learning into practice, the pupils worked together to investigate the river environment and observe the ecosystem up close.
During the visit, the girls were excited to discover a variety of creatures living near the riverbank, including a dragonfly nymph, water hog louse and plenty of tadpoles. The opportunity to get into the river and carry out practical investigations made the experience both educational and memorable.
The trip provided an excellent opportunity for the pupils to develop their scientific observation skills while enjoying the outdoors and learning more about the natural world around them. Everyone had a fantastic day and returned to school with plenty of stories — and muddy wellies!
