Leicester High School for Girls’ Alumnae Lunch

Leicester High School for Girls warmly welcomed former pupils back through its doors on Saturday for a special Alumnae Lunch, bringing together generations of LHS students for an afternoon of reconnection and celebration.

The event saw alumnae from across the decades return to share stories, catch up with friends, and reflect on the role LHS has played in shaping their lives. Around 70 former students attended, ranging from recent leavers to those whose ties to the School span several decades.

A highlight of the morning was a special 'Back to School' class on comets, delivered by Head of Science, Andrew McMurray. There were plenty of House Points awarded – and even some light-hearted threats of detention! In a heartwarming moment, a group of pupils sang an impromptu rendition of the School hymn.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a delicious lunch prepared by the School’s catering team.

Alan Whelpdale, Headmaster, welcomed the attendees and spoke about the School’s recent achievements. "It’s a privilege to see so many of our former students here today," he said. "You are all part of the School’s rich history, and we are so proud of everything you’ve gone on to achieve."

The event was part of the School’s continued commitment to building a strong alumnae network. Many attendees expressed how much they valued the opportunity to return to their school days, with one guest commenting, "It’s been so special to reconnect -it’s wonderful to see how it continues to inspire girls today."

Plans are already underway for future alumnae events, with the School looking forward to welcoming even more former pupils back to share the LHS spirit and celebrate their lifelong connection to the community.
